The Y has developed the following inclement weather policies out of concern for the safety of our members, program participants and staff. For weather related closings or cancellations refer to keene-ymca.org or NH TV’s WMUR.
- Building Closings: The Y will make every attempt to open or remain open in inclement weather. However, the Y does reserve the right to delay opening, close early or remain closed if the weather is deemed to be of a nature that our staff and members would be put at risk if we remained open. There is no reduction in membership fees for building closures.
- Pool Closings: In the event of lightning the Y will close for 1/2 hour after the last bolt of lightning is seen.
- Program Make-up: If a paid program is cancelled because of a Y closure the class will be offered at a make-up day and time (that may or may not be at on the same day or time). If a make up class cannot be held then a credit will be issued for the class missed. Credits will not be issued for those choosing not to attend a make up class.

NEW ENGLAND RECIPROCITY
As a member of the Keene Family YMCA you are entitled to visit any YMCA in New England (NH, VT, RI, MA, CT or ME) free of charge. Please check with the Y you are visiting regarding exact policies with regard to classes and services. This system should not be abused and we ask that you retain your membership at the Y you use most frequently. Abuse of the reciprocity program could result in a Y discontinuing the acceptance of your membership. More than 24 visits to a single participating Y in a calendar year could be considered abuse of the policy.
Our Y participates in the national AWAY program, which allows are members to utilize other YMCA’s in the AWAY network across the US. We allow 24 visits per calendar year by away members.
Each YMCA develops their own reciprocity policies. We suggest that you contact the Y you intend to visit ahead of time to verify their policies. YMCA’s participating in the AWAY program are listed on the Y of the USA website www.ymca.net, click “Find your Y.”
Y of the USA AND THE YMCA
The Y is an internationally recognized organization and yet there is often a misconception that we operate like a chain. Every Y is independent or part of an association of Y’s in a given area. We follow the same mission, but the work we do is molded around the communities which we serve. Each Y creates its own policies and offers its own types of memberships and programs. Y of the USA serves as a resource to Y’s nationwide, assisting us with maintaining a unified voice.
