The Y Board of Directors has proposed construction of a new YMCA, which will include a conventional main building, a field house, and a pool/natatorium.

By 2009, Keene will have a state-of-the-art YMCA that meets the unique needs of this community and that lives up to Keene's standards as one of the most attractive and inviting towns in northern New England. The Legacy for Future Generations: the Y at the Heart of it All
The community will realize many benefits from a new facility for years to come. With the completion of this project, the Keene Family YMCA will better fulfill its mission by becoming:
- A supportive environment for individuals and families from racially, ethnically and socio-economically diverse backgrounds to come together to exercise, learn life skills, socialize and develop supportive relationships.
- A highly functional state-of-the-art facility with properly maintained fitness and recreation equipment, staffed by caring, knowledgeable, committed staff and volunteers.
An inclusive family environment where program offerings are value-based, sensitive to family schedules and focused on a positive and fun introduction to sports, fitness, recreation and interaction.
- A gathering place where all barriers to individual and family fitness are replaced with a positive lifetime of memories and strong interpersonal bonds.
- A progressive, dynamic YMCA with a passionate and committed board devoted to meeting membership and community needs while ensuring that services are available to those most in need.

The New YMCA
Plans are for a 65,000 square foot facility to include:
- 6-lane Pool
- Therapy Pool
- Gymnasium
- Indoor Track
- Climbing Wall
- Wellness Center
- Child Watch Area
- 3 Locker Rooms
- Multi-purpose Space
- Adventure Center
- Child Care Wing
- Lobby/Cafe/Kitchen
- 2 Studios Studios
- Complete Gymnastics Center
- Teen Center Area

More Possibilities:
With additional fundraising success, the new Y would have everything described above PLUS others including:
- Racquetball Courts (2)
- 50% larger Climbing Wall
Access for EverYone!
The Y has made a commitment to ensure that transportation to the new facility is available. The YMCA buses will pick up students at Keene High School, Middle School, and all Keene elementary schools. We will also provide transportation from Marlborough, Swanzey, Chesterfield, and Westmoreland schools. Plans are in progress for the City Express and Friendly Bus to transport people to the new YMCA.
